You may have heard that coconut oil is good for this and that but have you actually try using it on yourself?
I've heard about the amazing benefits of coconut oil long before I was into beauty stuff. I know it is good but for some reasons I've never tried it until last year and I wonder what took me so long.
Coconut oil is one of the most versatile natural products around that is brimming with incredible properties for health and beauty.
Here I want to share a few ways of using coconut oil at home for cheap and natural beautification therapy.
1. Hair Treatment
My favorite thing is to use it as a hot oil treatment. Warm up the coconut oil and apply it on dry hair. Pop on a shower cap and leave for at least more than 30 minutes (or as long as you want to.. few hours, overnight..) then wash it off with your usual shampoo. You will be left with soft and shiny hair. You might want to shampoo your hair twice because coconut oil is quite hard to wash off. After the second shampoo, if your hair still feel slightly oily, it is ok. Those leftover oil will not weigh your hair down. It will only give you a beautiful shine. Everytime I use it, my hair is shiny and much more manageable. With regular use, it will improve the resilience and health of your hair.
2. Moisturizer
Coconut oil is an amazing moisturizer. Use it to moisturize whatever you want! Lips, face, hands, legs, feet, hair, lashes, cuticles, your baby, your pet, what else. I don't know. Just everything..
Apply some on your hands and legs after showering will help seal moisture in your skin. It absorbs quite quickly compared to other oils and you will be left with a beautiful sheen.
Use it as an intensive night time moisturizer regularly and enjoy anti aging properties. With regular use, it is said to help resolve acne. I have yet to try that.
3. Make-up Remover
Remove waterproof eye make up is a breeze with coconut oil. The skin healing properties in it keeps the facial skin healthy.
4. Scrub
Mix with sugar or salt to make a yummy scrub that will leave your skin soft, smooth and touchable.
5. Massage Oil
Use it as a massage oil for the body and head. Indians have used it in their heavenly head massages since long long time ago. Coconut oil has essential vitamins that are great for the scalp (and hair too). It helps moisturize the scalp, prevent flakies and stimulate hair growth.
6. Shaving Oil
You can even replace your shaving cream or lotion with coconut oil. It is all natural, chemical free and so good for the skin.
7. Eat it
Yes, ingesting coconut oil is really beneficial. It promotes healthy skin and hair. Besides that, it's high Lauric Acid and MCFA content helps boost metabolism. My bf's aunt swears by this to help her lose weight. She takes one tablespoon every morning on empty stomach.
Other health benefits of regularly ingesting coconut oil includes containing brain boosting properties, helps with allergy symptoms, increase mental alertness, helps with depression and anxiety, improves sleep, help prevent Alzheimer, the list goes on and on...
So, what are you waiting for? Go out and get a bottle. Try including coconut oil in your life. It is cheap, all natural and good for you. Remember to get high quality, unrefined, virgin and organic (if you can find it) coconut oil. The one I got it this one. Sorry that the bottle is dirty. I've been using it quite a lot.
It will be good replacement for some of your beauty products because I think we all can do with less chemical stuff in our lives. Agree?
If you don't like it, you can always cook with it hahaha.. Try it out!
Thank you for reading.
Until the next post, stay healthy and beautiful. XOXO~

Textured Polishes
I saw lots of these textured polishes popping up since the Mariah Carey Liquid Sands Collection.

I wasn't interested when the Mariah Carey Collection came out because I feel like I'll always like smooth, shiny nails more. When the Bond Girl Collection came, curiosity got the best of me. I got myself 2 of these texture polishes to try.. and I kinda fell in love with the textured idea.
OPI Bond Girl Collection in Jinx
Jinx is a orangey, red color with gold dust infused into it. It is so beautiful. Easily one of my favorite polishes of the year! First of all, the formula applies like a dream. 2 coats will give you a really nice and opaque finish. And it applies clean and neat effortlessly. Secondly, it dries super fast like glitter polishes. Thirdly, no top coat needed. Perfect for lazy me heheh..
The finish looks rough but sparkly at the same time if that make any sense. It's like sugar! I can't say that it is the same for every color but at least Jinx is like that. I just can't stop staring at my nails when I have it on. My nails look polished and nice despite the roughness and I love it!
It last about 3-4 days for me before it starts wearing off at the tips. The sparkle does get duller with wear. Scrubbing your nails until it is squeaky clean will revive the shine. Removing it is quite easy to my surprise. It is of course harder to remove than normal polishes but much easier to remove than glitter polishes.
Another one that I got is from the China Glaze Texture Collection.
Itty, Bitty & Gritty. Cute name isn't it?
This one is textured but without any sparkles. The color itself is awesome sauce. It is a popping hot peachy, pink that is perfect for the Summer especially on toes. However, I don't love this polish as much as I love Jinx. It is the formula. It is thick and a takes more effort to apply nicely because it is so gritty. The finish is a bit messy and uneven. Plus it takes longer to dry.
However, the consistency is very unique... like polish mixed with sand. If you use more time and effort to apply this nicely and neatly, it will look very pretty on the nails. The finish is like painted cement walls. Removal is not that hard too.
Overall, I'm impressed with the textured polishes because they look very unique. I would recommend you guys to try the ones with sparkles because to me, they look prettier. :D
Now I'm eyeing the Pixie Dust polishes from Zoya. I've always love Zoya polishes. I'm excited!!
Have you tried any of these texture polishes before? How do you like it? Anything that you would like to recommend me?
Hope you enjoy this short post. Thanks for reading.
Stay awesome~
