Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50

I've been forever hunting for a good sun protection lotion for my face that doesn't break me out. After my previous post about sun protection, I will be reviewing a few of the sunscreen I've used before and what I think about them.

First up, is the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50+ PA+++.

written at the back of the tube

Let's have a look at the ingredients :

Helioplex is a formulation of broad spectrum ultraviolet (UVA and UVB) skin protection containing avobenzone and oxybenzone made by Neutrogena.

Avobenzone can absorb UV light of a wide range of wavelengths. So, sunscreen containing avobenzone is often marketed as 'broad spectrum'. However, avobenzone by itself is an unstable ingredient and has been shown to degrade significantly in light, resulting in less protection over time. That's why oxybenzone is added to reduce the amount of degradation that occurs. That is how "helioplex" by Neutrogena is born. ^.^

OK, enough story telling and on to the review :

The packaging is nice and simple. It's a rather flat tube and contains 88ml of product only so you can easily bring this to travel. It costs around RM35 ish..

It is not as sunscreeny (if that's a word) smelling as the other sunscreens. Smells a bit perfumey but it goes away in no time after you applied it.

This sunscreen has a thick and creamy texture. After it absorbs it feels light, non-sticky and non-oily.
the texture
spreaded out a bit
It doesn't leave behind any noticeable white cast behind like some sunscreens do.

After absorption, the skin really feels dry to the touch. If you look at 'with sunscreen blended out' carefully, you can see a slight sheen left behind. It is definitely not shiny but I personally would prefer a more matte finish.

If you have drier skin type, this is probably good for your face. Some dermatologist recommended applying this when your skin is slightly damp and this will act as a moisturizer to seal in the moisture in your skin. For me, this sunscreen makes me look very shiny after a few hours (2-3 hours). That is frustrating for me because the oil melts off my make-up and I just look like a dull mess. I am too oily. That is why I am only using this for my body now.

This sunscreen is made of very good ingredients for its affordable price and is highly recommended by dermatologists. It has very high SPF and it would be perfect if it doesn't make my face shiny.
However, it contains dimethicone in the ingredients. People who are allergic or sensitive to silicone based products must be careful because this might break you out. I haven't break out from using this yet, but I've been using it for 3 days only so maybe my skin doesn't have time to react. FYI, sometimes I break out from using products that contains dimethicone. T_T
I love this on my body though. Non-sticky and light. Doesn't make me feel uncomfortable..

Hope this review helps you decide whether you want to try this sunscreen.

Stay protected from the sun and stay gorgeous as always.. XOXO~
